S.D. drug developer cuts staff by 40% |  |

Anadys Pharmaceuticals said yesterday it is cutting 40 percent of its staff, or about 20 people, and concentrating its efforts on a hepatitis C drug that has shown promise in early tests. The San Diego company also said it is raising $16.2 million from institutional investors in an offering that includes shares of stock and warrants that give the holders the option to buy additional shares.
