		<description><![CDATA[Through my AP Biology teacher, Mary Mauer, one of the first PhD scientists I met was Dr. Oliver Ryder with the San Diego Zoo http://www.sandiegozooglobal.org/icr/oliver_ryder_ph.d/ and he made a strong impression on me about species conservation and the molecular biology thereof. It was special to run into him again as a UCSD grad student and let him know how he influenced my life--although I did not end up working in EBE!]]></description>
