Senior Associate Scientist/Scientist, Structure Guided Chemistry

Description: The successful Senior Associate Scientist/Scientist candidate will be an accomplished chemist/analytical chemist with state of the art knowledge of modern high throughput purification of chiral and achiral small molecules. The individual will be a motivated, creative, hands-on laboratory scientist with the ability to interact effectively with team members in all areas of drug discovery. The individual will oversee daily operations as it is relates to high throughput purification of small molecules under minimal direction of senior scientific staff. The incumbent will also be responsible for leading and training analytical colleagues in conducting complex experiments and introduction of modern analytical trends/techniques. The individual will serve as both individual contributor and manager of 2-3 scientists/technicians. This is a full time position, predominantly in a laboratory environment

Qualifications/Requirements:

A Ph.D. in organic/analytical chemistry with 4+ years of industry experience or M.S. in chemistry/analytical chemistry with 6+ years of industrial drug discovery experience
Develop, supervise and evaluate performance of team members
Oversee the daily operation of the group performing different tasks. Direct staff in the development and implementation of workflows, procedures and programs
Strong working knowledge in modern analytical/preparative SFC-MS and HPLC-MS applied to chiral and achiral small molecules
Demonstrated ability to act as a “go to” for all analytical issues. Provide scientific, technical consulting, and training to other analysts
Interpret chromatographic and MS data including LC-MS and SFC-MS with high level of proficiency
Proven ability to maintain and troubleshoot problems with analytical instruments
Individually contribute to compound purification as well as maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of instruments
Individually contribute to investigate complex analytical problems, project issues and deviations
Proficient with modern computer instrument control software and hardware technology, Masslynx, data management and chemical information software.
Motivated team player, able to work closely with other scientific disciplines involved in drug discovery to solve complex problems.
Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills are essential.
Strong attention to details, flexibility to work in a dynamic environment, capacity to work independently and oriented towards priority.
Good leadership skills and demonstrated ability to manage people are essential

Physical Requirements:

Perform daily job duties that involve bending, kneeling, twisting and turning, and periods of prolonged walking throughout the workday.
The ability and willingness to work with potentially hazardous chemicals and instrumentation.
Moderate use of keyboard requiring repetitive motion of fingers
Occasionally lift and carry heavy package
