Details: Quality Control (QC) Associate, Carlsbad, CA Kelly Scientific Resources, a division of Kelly Services, has an immediate opening for a Quality Control (QC) Associate to work with a world-class, leading biotech company in the Carlsbad, California area. As a Quality Control (QC) Associate you will perform Quality Control assays/experiments on molecular biological reagents bulks, components, finished goods for use in research and commercial scientific products in life sciences industry. Experiments are performed following controlled protocols, and data is recorded on batch records following good documentation practices. Schedule/Shift: 1st shift, Monday – Friday. Possible OT may be required. Position Type: Long-term contract position, 9 mos. to 1 year Job Responsibilities: Perform Quality Control assays/experiments on molecular biological reagents bulks, components, finished goods for use in research and commercial scientific products in life sciences industry. Experiments are performed following controlled protocols, and data is recorded on batch records following good documentation practices. The types of assays include: End-Point and Quantitative (real-time) PCR Reverse Transcriptase PCR Cloning and Transformations Small/Medium Scale Nucleic Acid Purification Radio Nucleotide Labeling Advise the team lead/manager of factors that may affect quality of the product, initiate problem reports for deviations and non-conforming materials, and suggest options and ideas for corrective actions and preventive actions CAPA. Works in both a lab environment and manufacturing facility with specialized equipment. Lifting up to 20 lbs will be required on a frequent basis. May be required to stand for long periods of time while performing duties. May intermittently sit at desk/lab bench for a long period of time to perform experiments, write, and use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Must be able to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Job Requirements: Bachelor’s (BS) degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other related discipline, or the equivalent combination of knowledge and experience. Requires two (2) or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment or research laboratory. Experience in ISO 90001, ISO 13485 and/or GMP manufacturing environment. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of scientific laboratory techniques, equipment and materials required. Consistent, dependable and accurate in carrying out responsibilities. Normally receives no instructions on routine work and general instructions on new assignments. Works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations. Displays positive attitude toward job and others. Follows and provides direction accurately and efficiently. Excellent documentation and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to carry out scientific procedures and make recommendations for improvement required. Good problem solving skills. Why Kelly?
