John Munroe Biography

John grew up in Denver Colorado until college, obtaining a B.S. and M.S. in chemistry at Purdue University. John received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in the labs of E.J. Corey at Harvard University. John joined Eli Lilly as a medicinal chemist focusing on anti-infectives, including antibacterials and antivirals. Fifteen years ago, he moved into management, his most recent assignment in Indianapolis was directing medicinal chemistry efforts focused on oncology projects. Last year, John had the opportunity to move to San Diego to coordinate Lilly’s global structural biology and local FBDD groups. He will speak about Lilly’s open innovation initiative at the SDBN June 25th event.
