Business Development Manager- Southwest | SGI-DNA Inc.

Based in San Diego, CA the role of the Business Development Manager- Southwest is to ensure sales objectives are met within the designated territory (SCal, AZ, NM, TX, UT, CO).  You are expected to develop and execute sales plans and forecast sales for the SGI-DNA portfolio of products including reagents and instruments as well as predict order inflow for the territory and provide market and competitor activities from the field.  You will do demos at customer sites as required.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Development of appropriate territory and account-specific sales plan for each of the product lines in the portfolio
  • Demonstrate, install and gain customer acceptance of the BioXp 3200 system at customer sites
  • Develop and execute business plan to meet assigned sales quotas
  • Provide regular updates on progress towards meeting assigned quotas
  • Utilization and maintenance of CRM database
  • Deliver technical/scientific seminars and presentations describing product portfolio
  • Cross-functional partnerships to address the needs of customer base
  • Successfully manage a complex sales process for capital equipment and consumable pull through
  • Accurately manage sales pipeline activities including forecasting
  • Customer lead and prospect generation
  • Maintain current users and continuously work to expand customer base
  • Work Remotely, out of a Home office, ~25% travel required

Experience Required:

  • A Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Life Science or equivalent years of experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in the genomics market space either in sales, marketing or business development with capital equipment experience
  • Strong molecular biology background, knowledge of cloning, DNA synthesis technologies, antibody and or protein engineering workflows
  • Demonstrated track record in lead generation and prospecting
  • Highly proficient sales and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple high value, long sales cycle business opportunities simultaneously
  • Business acumen and flair to engage with wide range of customer profiles to convert a technical discussion into sales
