Jeane Wong is the founder and CEO of The League of Extraordinary Scientists and Engineers.
Comics and specifically super heroes began her obsession for science and engineering. A passion for entomology was formed at a young age after learning that ?Bugs really have super hero powers.? Only an enthusiast, Mrs. Wong earned her degree in fire science while working for the California Conservation Corps and then United States Forest Service as a sawyer (chainsaw operator) on a fire line hand crew.
Jeane created a daycare that was science infused for her son, Lyric, in 2007 that would take advantage of ?the most absorbent years? as well as create a community of families. With the echoing philosophy throughout her life? find a need and fill a need? Jeane’s hands-on lessons and Animalia began to tour several surrounding PreK-6th grade schools and 6-6 programs in 2009.
A community of super heroes naturally formed with likeminded families searching for daycare and finding ?Lyrics?. Jeane noticed families that dedicated their careers to not just changing the here and now but intent on being part of making a better tomorrow for their kids and naturally the world. She gathered this group together and became in her words ?the BUS DRIVER for brilliant Scientific and Engineering minds?. You cannot have this group of people in one room and not think EXTRAORDINARY?. The League of Extraordinary Scientists and Engineers (LXS) was born by inviting the scientists and engineers from her daycare to a ?BEERS and BRAINS? in 2013 meeting in South Park.
With now seven different science and engineering tours, LXS and their Scientists and Engineers have been in front of over 75,000 students all over San Diego County. LXS is uniquely FREE to all schools as equity and access in education is has been an obvious gap that has needed a bridge.
Jeane and her Extraordinary Scientists & Engineers are expanding their reach every year while continuing to support educators inside the classroom while inspiring students to STAY Curious & Keep on Science-ing.
