SDBN’s June 24th 2014 Downtown Event: Reinventing California Biotech: DIY is the New Bootstrap Event

Reinventing California Biotech

The California biotech landscape has changed over the past 10 years due to stagnant or decreasing funding for research in both the academic and private sector. However, a new breed of biotechnology champions have taken matters into their own hands, breathing new life into California life science. These pioneers have diverse backgrounds but are united in their quest to find creative solutions to challenges in funding and to rethink the norm in biotechnology entrepreneurship. At this downtown event coinciding with the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) 2014 convention, you?ll get the opportunity to network with California?s thought leaders and ask them about incubators, crowdfunding, DIY biotech, creative business models, the intersection of tech/biotech, and more.

We’ve chosen thought leaders from San Francisco and San Diego, and expect a lively discussion about the differences between these biotech hubs and how we can learn from one another. As always, we’ll facilitate networking before and after the event also, and be sure to give us questions for the panelists when you register. We’ve also chosen an appropriate venue to discuss startups, a cool warehouse where we’ll have dinner and drinks. The event will take place on the “free night” at BIO 2014, and we encourage you to check out the many affordable ways to participate in the convention, and take the 10 minute walk to the SDBN event after the day’s activities.
The Twitter hashtag for the event is #SDBNJune and you can see all the related posts, including profiles of the panelists, by searching for this tag on the website.
Note: Registration is now closed for our June 24th event, and unfortunately we cannot take onsite registrants. If you’ve registered and you haven’t paid, use this link to do so.
