SDBN March 23rd 2015 Event: Are Collaborative Models the Path to Better San Diego Drug Discovery in 2015?

collabdrugdiscovery4In 2011 the San Diego Biotechnology Network (SDBN) hosted an event on ?virtual? drug discovery, the then burgeoning idea that successful therapies could result from very small companies that rely on the internet-driven infrastructure to advance their drug pipelines. In 2015, we see that this model works and has been expanded to encompass robust collaborations between academia, pharma/biotech, contract research organizations, and patient advocacy groups. Models and infrastructures that incorporate intellectual property and data sharing have emerged. Additionally, creative funding methods have been used to support these initiatives. Let?s meet to gain insights from the people who?ve built some of these successful models as well as to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing San Diego drug discovery in the future.

Major questions to be addressed:

  1. What funding and collaborative strategies have worked well to survive during the pronounced funding ?drought? over the past 5 years?
  2. What intellectual property and data sharing models have worked best?
  3. How have the emerging collaborative drug discovery paradigms from the last 5 years transformed drug discovery?
  4. What are the implications of the recent improvement in the venture capital and public markets for continued growth in the use of collaborative models?

As always, we’ll be collecting questions from you when you register so that we’ll have a lively discussion, click here to register and join us March 23rd!
